County Cooking Competition
One team from Sutton District, the 5th Carshalton team, joined 18 other teams from around Greater London South West in this year’s County Cooking Competition at 1st Hook Scout Headquarters on Sunday 17th February 2008. Each team had to prepare and cook a three course meal for four people within two hours, and with ingredients costing less than £12.50 in total. The theme this year was “Food for the Future” – what will we be eating in 2020? Using your imagination, but thinking responsibly – only using ingredients sourced in the UK (limiting carbon footprint).
The menus were extremely varied and the standard of the meals prepared was very high. This year’s winners were the 19th Wimbledon team with 62 points but the 5th Carshalton team joined the 9th Purley A team in joint second place with 60 points.
A full table of the results is available on the Greater London South West county web site.
