County Night Exercise 2007
This is an annual incident night hike competition for teams from all troops in the Scout County of Greater London South West. In 2007 the competition was held on Saturday 10th March at Boidierhurst Scout Campsite. Nineteen teams of between four and six Scouts were set off at five-minute intervals into the dark, their mission to navigate a course between checkpoints (which they had to find using grid references) and to answer “Mind Trap”-style questions at seven bases.
Most of the teams completed the course although some teams missed a base. The fastest team was out for just over three and a half hours while the slowest team took nearly six and a quarter hours to get all around the course. On their return, all the Scouts were offered a hot snack and a hot drink. Most Scouts stayed for the rest of the night at the campsite.
Only one Sutton District Troop entered teams into the competition this year: 1st Belmont Scout Troop, who entered two teams. The table below shows the positions and total points scored by the teams. Full results are on the GLSW web site.
