Peggy Charman First Aid Competition 2007
The Peggy Charman Cub First Aid Competition was held on Saturday 24th March 2007 at Carew Manor School in Wallington. The competition was for teams of four Cubs and was based on the topics of the Emergency Aid Stage 3 badge. Teams from eleven Cub Packs took part and spent 10 minutes at each of 12 bases where they were tested on:
- When and how to contact the emergency services
- How to treat major bleeding
- How to recognise and treat broken bones
- How to treat burns and scalds
- How to deal with choking
- How to recognise and treat heat exhaustion
- How to recognise and treat hypothermia
- What to do at the scene of an accident
- How to treat an unconscious patient, give CPR and place in the recovery position
- How to recognise the symptoms of shock and how to treat a casualty
- Safety in the home – recognising potential trouble-spots
- How to deal with strangers
Marks were awarded for teamwork and achievement. The results were as follows:
