District Cub Mat Ball Competition 2006
The District Cub Mat Ball competition was held on Saturday 17th June 2006 in the grounds of Carew Manor School in Wallington. Each Pack in the District was invited to enter one team of six players. Six teams took part in the competition and, with three pitches available, a full league was run. The top four teams then went through to a knock-out stage.
Mat Ball is played with a tennis ball on a pitch 25m long with two goal areas 1m by 1.5m at each end. Goals are scored by passing the ball to a player standing in the goal area. The full Mat Ball rules are available on a separate sheet in PDF format.
The semi-final between 1st Belmont Ryde and 3rd Cheam was particularly tense. 3rd Cheam held a two-goal lead for most of the game but 1st Belmont Ryde fought back and equalised right on the final whistle. 1st Belmont Ryde then went on to win the game after extra time was played.
