Scientist Badge 2004

On Saturday 13th March seventy-five Cub Scouts descended on a small group of Leaders in the science labs at St Philomena’s School in Carshalton for a three-hour Scientist Badge session.

The leaders ran eight bases:

  1. Acids, alkalis and pH
  2. Light and colours
  3. Fibres, insects, cells and embryos under the microscope
  4. Hot air balloon and properties of air
  5. Games base
  6. Pulse rate and breathing
  7. Flame analysis of chemicals
  8. Simple circuits with batteries, bulbs and switches

The Cubs spent about 20 minutes at each base with a short break for drinks and biscuits half-way through.

All the Cubs that stayed for the whole session gained their Cub Scout Scientist Badge.
